Hi: I just got my `02 Liberty recently, & I want to change out all its fluids (when the darn weather gets above 35 deg. around here

). One of the things I want to change is the tranny fluid. From looking around on the site, I note that the only change seems to be, dropping the pan, changing the filter(s), & putting in 5qts of ATF+4. I`m not familiar with C/D auto transmissions, but it seems like you are leaving the majority of the dirty fluid in the trans, because most of it is in the torque convertor. On my `87 `Vette, I changed the fluid by changing the filter as above, but then I filled the pan with fresh fluid & disconnected the tranny cooler inlet line on the back of the radiator, & attached some vinyl tubing to the line & put the tube in a 1gal jug. I then started the car & let it idle. The dirty fluid went into the jug. When the jug was full, I shut down the car, refilled the pan with another gal of trans fluid, & then repeated the process until the fluid coming out was bright red & clean. Also by having the line disconnected, dirty fluid cannot get back into the trans. Anyone done this with these transmissions?. Its been too darn cold to play around under my hood
