I recently did a bit of work on my Liberty. I change the fluid and filters in the Transmission, Change the spark plug, the pcv valve, and the air filter. Ever since I did all that work, I have been having a problem where my liberty stutters and almost dies whenever I come to a stop, but only if the tranny is in gear. It does not do it if I am in neutral. It normally idles around 650 rpm, but drops down to around 500 rpm. I talked to a budy of mine who knows a lot about cars and he suggested that I check the brake booster for vacuum leaks, or that I could possibly be that the computer just does not like the new spark plugs. Does anyone have any input on what the problem could be?

Another issue that poped up after I did all that work was that my MPG has dropped way down. I used to be able to get about 270-280 miles to a tank, but now it seems like I can only get about 240. Could this be related to the stuttering issue?

Any help would be appreciated

What brand of spark plugs did you use and what type of tranny fluid did you use?

Have you noticed a decrease in power through the rpms? Does it start ok?

Check all the connections for the coils.

I assume this is a V-6..

I used the Bosch Double platinum I believe.

and I don't recal the exact type of fluid, But I did add some Lucas AT Fix fluid.

I have not noticed any loss in power.

and yes it is a V6

Check AT fluid level. Make sure you check it properly, Refer to manual.

It takes time for the fluid level to reflect the addition of fluid. (for instance running through all of the gears) and if you have a liquid to air cooler for your trans, it could have air bubbles in it. Drive on the freeway (if fluid level is correct) with od off to increase pump pressure in an attempt to "dislodge" air bubbles.

Don't overfill.

Over full = foam, foam = air, air = don't lube, air cant hold your tc. air cant fill a valve body. (if you have foam due to overfill, you'll know because it'll be coming out of the breather tube)

Same goes for under full.

If you find that your fluid level is low, fill it up carefully. Drive through all gears, check it again.
