Post subject:  Shipping on an ARB Bumper?

Anyone know the cheapest commercial way to ship an ARB Bumper across country? I'm looking to ship one from Arizona to North Carolina. I tried a couple of online quotes, and if they are right I'll pass :) One was almost $500 and the other was over $1,000. Surely there is something cheaper! The web sites that sell these will flat ship them for $185 to anywhere in the US.

Thanks,
Rescu2000

I don't know of any shipping methods but here is what I would suggest. Go find a local truck shop where they repair semis. talk to the shop manager and see if he knows any truckers that make runs out to Arizona and might have some extra room in the trailer on the return trip to NC. Sometimes truckers will be interested in doing it for a fair price as it really wouldn't cost them anything as their rigs are designed to haul much much heavier objects than your ARB.

Also some bus companies do heavy freight shipping if they can fit it into their luggage storage area so you might want to check with them so you would have a company to actually have a contract with so if it goes missing you don't have to hunt down one lonely trucker.

I'm afraid as crappy as our gas mileage is, it would cost close to the $800 mark for gas LOL

I am going to look into the Greyhound thing though. Would not have thought of that.

Just make sure you insure it. There have been posts on her about Greyhound shipping that has not been to stellar. Kind of get there when they want to get it there not necessarily when it was promised.... than kind of stuff.

mine was shipped greyhound.. there are two dif. ways they can ship it.. normal which is kinda whenever a bus gets there or whenever they have room for it it gets there... then theres an option to have it on the next bus out going towards you.

mine was shipped greyhound and worked out well... execpt the shipper (fellow lost member) had to send it in 2 different packages because the bumper/brackets/bolts were over the 100lb max packaged together.

i checked 4wd hardware and its 905 free shipping, or ill pick it up

4 wheel parts has 10% off ARB bumpers, so ill give them a call tomorrow, they dont list JEEP under the bumper section to see the exact price. theres one about 20min away from me, so i could go pick it up

edit again! i think the 10% is only for the truck ARB bumpers! ill have to call tomorrow, but 4wheel parts has it for 852, instead of 905 like 4WD Hardware. 4wheel parts better not charge for shipping to THEM, a few places i have talked to, just pass their shipping charge right onto you.

BUT i dont get paid till the 24th! so itll for sure be gone by then :( so ill have to pay 852 and pick it up, but hey, its better than paying 850 plus 150 shipping i guess

I shipped my TJ from chicago to scottsdale, AZ for like $500 there is a website Uship.com that you just list what you need shipped and companies and people just make bids to do it, mine was a trucking company that had an extra spot on the car carrier. so if you can't find a price you like just list it up there and see what prices you can get. I got 12 offers in about 3 days.
