Sweet!

How is the flow? I have read that they are a good reasonably priced unit... I always manage to find the crappy portables.

I haven't been able to try it today b/c it is raining and there is severe weather.

Does anyone have any experiene with cutting the end of the hose off in order to install a 1/4" end... sorry I don't know the names...b/c right now all that I can do with the pump is air up my tires, but I want to be ableto add other parts, such as an air gun.

Thanks!

If that inflator doesn't screw off the end you can cut it and get a connector with a hose barb on it. It would be easier just to get a different hose that will attach to the compressor fitting though.

I don't mean to disillusion you but those little guys don't move enough air to power tools. I Have a similar unit and there's no way I could run any of my air tools with it. Heck, my 12 gallon DeVilbiss unit has a hard time keeping up with some of the things I run on it. It's all about CFM for air tools. Not just psi. (just in case you didn't know).

Here is a write-up over on Jeep Forums that has some info on changing out the fittings to standard sizes. I followed these but I set mine up fo a single coupling straight out the side. I wound up going to my local Ace Hardware to find the proper adapters - Home Depot and Lowes didn't stock them. Also replacing the pressure gauge isn't really nescessary as long as you have a regular tire gauge to verify things with.

I did see that actually and I used that to change the stock guage, mostly b/c I like to get a more accurate reading than what it givs!

Hmmm, good luck with the new gauge. I replaced mine with one that only went to 60psi (marked every one psi) and the needle bounces like mad when I'm airing up. Let me know if you get yours to work.

It's not a HF unit, but it probably is made in China. So are Vair and Slime branded compressors. Most of the other manufacturers buy at least some of their components from China.

Q Industries sells a "dually" compressor (Q89 is the model iirc) that will air you up quick! I thought about getting one and plumbing it to an air tank but I never followed through. They seem to be sold out of them a lot wherever you look so I don't know if that a good thing or a bad thing.

All of the compressors in that price range look suspiciously similar imho. Not saying that they are bad, but like so many things today, I think they may come out of the same plant and are just painted and branded differently.

Nope, this one will set you back around $60 (depending on whwere you get it, if there's a sale, etc). These are the type of compressor that hook directly to the battery because they draw too much current to use the power outlet. I've had mine going on two years now and it does just fine. Takes about 5-6 minutes to bring one of my 245/75s back up to 35psi from around 20 - on a stock tire it'll go from 20-35 in about three minutes.

It is still crap, and the company will not honor their own warranty either.... Mine overheated in 10 minutes and blew up. They claimed I abused it by using it for an "off road" vehicle. Guess I should have wiped the dust off of it before I sent it back.

Good luck, and don't let it run longer than 2-3 minutes straight

Well I had 2 manager's at my local ace hardware store, and neither of them could get the fitting to go from 1/8" to 1/4", so therefore, I bought a 1/4" tap and am going to tap it to fit!

Because it's metric. The newer models arent 1/8 for the hose outlet. You need a metric to NPT adapter. I forget the size offhand...

It's alright. I had sooo much of a headache with it at Ace that I am just gunna tap it b/c it's easier.
