Problem: rotational thumping noise from front end. Sounds similar to flat tire. Goes away when brakes are applied. Loudest around 30/35 mph (haven't gone over that by much though). Brake calipers are tight, lugs are tight. Please help - I'm sitting at the dealership right now. Thanks! |

Could be any thing from a bad strut to broken or loose sway bar, junk stuck in tire tread from road hazards, .....on and on. Could be any thing without looking at it. Up date please. |

When I had that happen last year, it ended up being the strut. |

I recall someone posting on here that they got a Frankie with a loose upper strut nut/mount. Might want to check to see if that is tight. |

those were both tightened before the lift went on, possible front brake pad to caliper shims fell out? had one make the same noise you're describing just last night. the pad shims were missing from the previous brake job at a local michael tire shop. good luck |

Ok so here's the update - just got the KJ back and the big problem was that the shop it went to last night (where they tightened the caliper) didn't tighten everything down ... supposedly. The dealership said that the caliper was still loose and that since one of my lug nuts didn't have the cap on it, that could've been it too. They also rebalanced the tire, saying "that could also have been making the noise". Grrrr I hate dealerships! Thanks all! I'll keep this post updated if it comes back... again |

Yer kidding right? Heck I'm missing a half-dozen of the caps on my lug nuts and never have had a noise due to it. Loose caliper causing noise I could see (particularly if your rotor was a bit warped), out-of-balance tire I could maybe see causing a noise but a missing lug nut cap??? Glad you got it out and hopefully it'll be a long time before you have to go to the dealer again |

Sorry about that. I didn't realize it went through until I got to work & used a real computer - posting by cell phone issues. Thanks for deleting it! |
