soon ill be doing a trans flush, front and rear diff change, transfer case, and oil change at my shop. i use Mobil 1 for engine oil, and for the diffs im going to use Mobil 1 75w-140 gear oil. but i was wondering what people are using for the transfer case and transmission, i wanted to use Mobil 1 but it doesn't specify that its atf+4 so what are u guys using?

I was tired of looking for enough ATF+4 to do a flush and I broke down and got Autozone ATF+4....the guy told me it was made by valvoline but pfft, who knows. Guess I shoulda bought online.

someone will probably grill me for this one

i use castroil ATF4, its the only product they make that I'll use, i use mobil 1 oil/filter, mobil 75-140 with additive in the front and 75-90 purple sweetness in the rear

i used to use 75-90 purple in the front but it whined, so i switched to 140 and it quit whining

the rear probably whines a little but I don't hear it

You forgot your brake fluid (DOT3/4/5.1) , power steering fluid (regular PS fluid, for your 2002) and coolant (Zerex G-05).

Both tranny and t-case use ATF+4. I use Valvoline ATF+4.

I use 75W90 in both the front and rear diffs. If you tow a lot or do frequent offroading, I would use 75W140.

Engine oil. 5W30

Engine oil filter. I like to use either Napa Gold or Wix (same filter), or Purolator PUREONE filters.

well my power steering fluid was just changed, but what it the additive you guys add to the front diff, my jeep only has part time high and low, as well as 2hi

if you have a LSD in the front you need 4oz of the additive for LSD's if you don't use the lube that already has it in there like the royal purple stuff does

i put a lil extra additive in the royal purple anyway, the additive will not harm or help open diff's, it's just complicated stuff for the clutches in limited slip diffs

DC never offered a LSD in the front diff, only the rear.

he asked why people kept mentioning additives in the front

I should have elaborated with the statement:

If you have a LSD in the front -- Due to the fact that you put a truetrac in there as quite a few of us have -- then you need additive

thanks captain obvious

does the rear diff need the additive?

-if- it has a truetrac, which was an option

He means Trac-lock, not truetrac for the factroy rear limited slip.

Look for a green tag on the left side of the axle tube by the backing plate.

alright thanks, if i have the limited-slip and use Mobil 1 75w-140, do i still need to add the friction modifier even though on Mobil 1's website it says it already contains the friction modifier for limited slip diffs?

Amsoil coolant is a Propylene Glycol Antifreeze and is not compatible with HOAT coolant that is required in the KJ.Bye-bye water pump soon.
