The Amsoil site just lists a regular Wix filter for $48. I'm wondering if the $13 one at the local parts store is the same or do I need to spring for the Wix? I'd rather not since I'm already blowing a hole in my wallet for Amsoil gear lube, engine oil, oil filter, and transmission/transfer case fluid. |

You didn't tell us which trans you have? If you have the 45RFE, you need the sump filter (ATP p/n B196), and the spin-on filter (ATP p/n200). The ATP brand is a good brand if that's what your local parts store carries. If you have any other trans, I don't know if the filters are the same? |

I *think* I have a 42RLE but I need to verify. It's an '03. I just bought it a few weeks ago so I haven't had a chance to completely figure everything out yet. On the title it says "BUILT AFTER..." and then it cuts off lol. |

Be careful you get the right one. Many parts stores, for a few years there, only showed the filter kit for the 45RFE trans. You could have either trans depending on when your 03 was built so make sure. the one Amsoil shows on their site is the one that includes the canister filter for the 45, they do not stock the one for the 42 since it isn't made by Wix. |

Oh, and a 42RE and 42RLE are NOT the same. Went to get a gasket, they gave me one for the 42RE and it was sooo close. one hole off. |
