Read the owners manual..

Do you have an evic?

i think you got your answer. if you post a question and nobody replies it usually means nobody knows the answer. Perhaps if you put some more specifics like what model of remote you have, a link to a webpage where you bought it, etc, then someone might be able to help you. Did you try contacting the place you bought them at?

The owners manual has the sequence - but you have to have 2 working keys and then you can program new ones - if you only have 1 working - you have to pay the dealer to program new ones

I am assuming that you just need to program the remote, not the keys. Do the remotes you are replacing still work?

remotes i believe can be trained through the EVIC, not sure if you don't have one. and the chipped keys have to be done @ the dealer

ok. see i have no evic and my one current remote is working. i also have no owners manual as i just recently bought this jeep used.

my keys don't apear to have chips in them. they look just like regular old keys for my old grand and regular cherokee.

i have the remote, pn:04602260 aa. just a little oblongish remote with unlock, lock, pop the hatch, and panic on it. i asked the place i got it for directions on programming but htey said they do not gie the directions and i could find them on line from one of the forums or the dealer.

i bought them on ebay since they were new and horribly inexpensive and i figured even if i had to go to the dealer, i would be saving money

On the owners manual, you might check again in the glove box - there's a little sort-of-hidden shelf at the top where it goes. I thought I didnt have one either until I read about the shelf on here and I looked again and, what do you know, there it was.

i know about the shelf. i put my insurance card there since i have no owners manual. i do happen to own the factory manuals now also though so i guess i can see if they say anything about programming

If the key is gray then it has the chip, if its black it does not.

That shouldnt matter if your programming a remote though..

Im not sure if you can program them without the evic..

I don't remember the sequence, I either found it here or in the manual. But i had one chip key that worked and a remote key ans i was able to program a new key.

Right from the '02 Owners manual..................

2. Enter program mode: using a currently programmed transmitter; press and hold the "Unlock" button on the transmitter.

Continue to hold the "Unlock" button, wait at least 4 but no longer then 10 seconds, then press and hold the PANIC button for at least 1 second.Release both buttons simultaneously.

3. Program each transmitter: All transmitters to be used with your vehicle must be programmed as follows:
