Got a week or so off work so I am going to take off the skids and trailer hitch. Sand the buggers down and paint them. Any tips on the subject? What to use for rusty bolts? or what to use when you put the bolts back in? Lock tight maybe?
Thanks

By the end of the month I will finally post some pics of the KJ

Use PB blaster on all the bolts the night before, let them soak in.

DON'T use LOCTITE!! You'll be cursing yourself, the next time you want to take them out.

couple years ago i took my hitch off and sandblasted it. i decided to try some self etching primer before i painted it and was not disappointed! i don't remember what paint i ended up using, but the krylon rust tough semi-gloss comes highly recommended....from me. bottom line is 2 years later it still looks good.

another note about the self etching primer, used it on my rock rails before i painted them with the rustoleum hammered paint. rocks will chip the hammered paint off, but the primer is still there. it seems to be some pretty good stuff for coming out of a rattle can.

I didn't think to paint my diff cover before putting it on

 Yeaaah, I know and it didn't come coated or anything

after it started rusting i pretty much hosed it with brake cleaner and let it dry then did the best i could with a can of rust tough, stuff sticks pretty good even without primer

eventually i'll take it off and sandblast it and powdercoat it
