The title pretty much says it all: I received an email from Jeep today, saying they are NOT going to be able to host Camp Jeep for '09. |

They could be folding by the end of the month and you think they are going to make plans for the future that will cost them even more money? |

Jeep is a valuable brand, someone will buy it even if the rest of Chrysler dies. I know it was a false article, but I like the idea of International getting a hold of Jeep. Mmmm, MaxxForce5 powered Liberty. |

Although I understand the logistics, that doesn't mean I shouldn't miss it. Not many vehicle owners have so much brand loyalty that they could get over 4,000 in one place, at one time. It was a pretty cool event, and I hope one day, that whoever Jeep ends up with will be able to continue the tradition. |

It is funny. Jeep sell cars, parts and it name. I would like to think Jeep license makes enough money to jeep going. But i must be wrong... Jeep is vary valuable and someone will buy it. I am hoping the honor all the life time warranties... |

Where is this coming from.... First I hear that Chrysler is closing its doors. I thought they were suppose to merge with FIAT and GM was filing for Ch.11 |

As far as I'm concerned all the new Jeep models, except the JK are going more in the "car" direction and not the true spirt of the Jeep as a capable offroad vehicle. I think that's what is going to hurt the Jeep brand if anything. |

If I bought Jeep, there would be the Wrangler line (2 & 4 door Rubicon, Saraha, X) and a pickup (much like the Brute) based off the Wrangler (4 door) chassis. Maybe a SUV like the Liberty? Maybe. Jeep would become America's "toy" automaker. Sorry kids, but Jeep doesn't need two or three lines of mall rated SUV's. |

I read yesterday that the head of Fiat said that he wanted Chrysler to cut union workers salary to match that of the other foreign brands made in the US (Honda, Toyota) or he wouldn't sign the deal. And if they don't make the deal by the end of the month, no more government money and they have to start selling off assets to pay off their debtors. I personally think Jeep will survive (it is the most profitable brand) but which company would buy it I don't know. It would be cool though if it came out like Harley Davidson and the employees bought out the company to keep it afloat. Then they might really build vehicles everyone wants, not just one model. |

Exactly. But seriously, I would save money by not having various versions of SUV's. I don't see the point having 3 0r 4 models of soccer mom family trucksters. Oop's... |

But the "soccer mom family trucksters" as you call them has saved Jeeps butt. When the Liberty's came out it made them millions. Selling only Wranglers and maybe a Wrangler based truck they would be in the same place as Hummer now, have to have some different models, have to remember where Willys started, not with 4 wheels drives but with cars, had it not been for the car line they would of never been bale to help start producing the Willys/ Jeep brand 4 wheel drive. Harley for example does not sell one or two models, they make several to sell to everyone, they have to so that they can stay alive! |

I disagree. In 2008 the Jeep Liberty was ranked the #3 best selling SUV. The Grand Cherokee #4. The Wrangler's #7. The other's don't make the top 10. Or "save" Jeep the way I see it. While driving home from work each day I can't go further than the next stop light without seeing another newer Wrangler or Liberty. While the newer Grand Cherokee falls short in comparison, the new Commander's & Patriot's are few are far between. I believe Jeep should downsize the 4-door SUV production line (to 2 models), and build a sport pickup much like the Brute (both 2 door and extended cab models based on the JK chassis). I bet this truck would be a hot seller. Mind you, it should be available with the Hemi option. As should the Wrangler. Harley Davidson isn't Jeep. But from what I hear, they too are facing future decisions. |

In Canada, DC stopped the Jeep Jamboree. The Nova Scotia Jeep Club took it over, for the 2nd year- they are A) keeping prices the same B) not related to DC C) running contest to win your tickets D) getting more participants to register (and register early).... WHy not do a Lost Camp Jeep? I'm sure you could do it better!! Go |
