Thinking of doing this today. Do I really need a press for this or will a hammer and c-clamp work ok? I have never done them before so they could be rusted in there pretty good. I could prob by the parts, get the shaft out, then bring everything to Midas and have them press it in for $20 worst case but id would rather not. Thanks |

Lucky me, the u joint appears to be rusted to the yolk of the diff. Too early to hammer away just yet. You guys that live south have it so easy with your rust free suspensions! |

I was living in FL when the shop broke both the yolkes on the t case and the rear axle attempting to replace the u joints. |

The knew they had to remove the straps holding the joint in didnt they... I got it out and the new one in once I could hit it with the 5 pounder. Didn't cure my noise in the rear though. Only brakes, wheel bearings, or diff left... oh boy. The joint I took out wasnt in good shape anyhow. All four bearings grinded as i spun them by hand. |
