After the bad record of XJs in this area, I think I like KJ's anti-theft system, where the chip in the key has to match one on board. Theoretically, that should eliminate car theft, although I expect some thief has found a way around it. I tried looking for stats online but couldn't find anything recent. So, what's the skinny? How often do KJ's get stolen?

We had our Escalade stolen which had the latest of OEM anti-theft technology. We had video of the theft, it took them 2 mins. Apparently the latest GM anti theft systems can be thwarted with a magnet. They also ripped the stereo out so On Star couldn't track it. The Escalade was totaled since the interior was coated in oil which they do so you can't dust for fingerprints. The inerior of an Escalade is worth more than the whole thing.

Here's pics of the rig: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/galleries/CADILLAC_Escalade/index.php

Since they make bypass modules for remote starters, it's not hard to get past the chip systems.

A little pricey but I wouldn't mind having it.

ts pricey but the work involved is awsome. A friend has a well modified Saturn Sky, he called and a Technician came to his house and installed it right in his garage, it took about 3.30 hours, the guy was so neat it was amazing. In his case part of the main harness had to be spliced into. They work is guaranteed, and in case anyone is interested its Stealership approved.

Only if the dealership installs it.No aftermarket electrical item is dealership approved unless install at the dealership, even more so if the main wiring harness needs to be hacked into.I know I worked at a dealership, both GM and Jeep.

I agree TJ, maybe they made an exception with him, he gets all his modifications, and modified parts from the dealer he bought the
sky from and they also install it for him, hes not a wrencher like us. I did question him when he told me he checked with the dealer and they agreed. Hey who knows you know how they work. :o
