Transfer-case; The case is full when fluid is right below the fill plug opening. Use only Mopar ATF+4.

Diffs ; Front = 1.31 QTS or 2.60 Pints. When doing the front, fill no higher than 1/2" below fill plug opening. Rear - 2.19 QTS or 4.40 Pints.

The reason (I believe) is simply that your KJ wasn't taken off road by the final assy techs from the production line. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks.
Because you have a '02 KJ that was built about 2 years before the "trail rated" gimmick was introduced. It's just a badge and that's it,nothing on the KJ changed expect the transmission went to a weaker version then what you have if you have a auto.

in addition to what troy said,

as someone noticed when they debadged their trail rated badge, there was a dent under it

so... maybe the trail rated badges cover up some mysterious dent left by the assembly line that they covered up

KJ theory from ThunderbirdJunkie

TRAIL RATED badge intended to cover the hole? left by the euro and aussie market KJs with their side marker lights.

[/conspiracy theory] do not ask ThunderbirdJunkie about manbearpig flu if you do not like conspiracy theories

TBJ..you are getting weirder by the minute...

And yes, where you guys have the antenna I have an indicator light. So it seems logical that the 'dent' on the other side is a marker for the export indicator and was hidden under a badge for the US market.
