For those of you that have the Renegade Decals on their hoods, what is the best way to put these things on, so i do it right the first time? Also, being that it has been and will be below freezing for who knows how long, should I wait until spring to do this, or will a sunny (but below freezing) day be ok to put them on?
I just ordered mine, and they should be here sometime between xmas and NYE for me to put them on while I'm on "vacation" from work. |

I'm not a pro but have put quite a few decals on vehicles & pin striping (used to be a proffesional detailer 10 yrs) I would wait till it's at least 50 or above & clean the area very well, you can put them on in the cold with a heat gun or hair dryer but the area cools off to quick & ya realy want the glue to adhear to the surface for longgevity, spring is actualy the best time |

I've done a ton of decals so listen up! Anyway, all kidding aside, it's best to adhere them when the temp is in the 70s or better. (heated garage maybe) 1. Thoroughly clean the area decal will be applied to, it's suggested u remove wax but I have found that as long as the area is totally clean u are ok. 2. Take a spray bottle, fill with warm to almost hot water and a couple of drops of dish detergent, mix in so u get a little foam on top. 3. Spray the soapy mixture totally and generously over the area the decal will be applied to. You want it kinda slimy to the touch. 4. While the area is wet and slippery apply the decal (which should be stuck to the upper piece of paper to hold it in place) This "slimy wetness" will allow u to pull up the decal if necessary w/o it sticking permanently (usually takes me about 3 tries to get the first one on the way I like it.) If u do pull up the decal and paper, rewet the area. 5. LEAVING THE PAPER IN PLACE, use a squegee of some sort (I usually use a wet washcloth to start then move to something which is like a credit card but a little more flexible/softer, car places sell these squegges for about $1.) to squegee out the bubbles and water from under the decal. As u do this the paper will get saturated allowing you to see how well u need to continue squegeeing to remove bubbles. 6. After u are satisfied, let everything dry where it is (paper still on top) Here's where I usually get impatient and try to pull up the paper. Since u used soapy water the decal will tend to lift off of the paint. LET IT DRY BEFORE REMOVING PAPER. 7. When u can lift one edge of the paper with the decal remaining behind, u can SLOWLY remove the paper. I tend to find that using the squegee card in one hand behind the paper as I pull it up with the other hand produces better results. If u squegeed enough you should have no air bubbles in the decal which is left behind. This technique is actually very simple and works great. You may want to try it on a small experimental decal on your glass so u can scrape it off later. Have fun! Also see this site for more detailed info:. http://www.signspecialist.com/instructions.html ps - Shrink ure avatar, it elongates the page. |

Cacher is exactly right, low humdity helps a lot too. If you do decide to do it in a heated garage, let the Jeep sit long enough so that the area where the decal will be applied is warm to the touch |

Be warned about Motorcity decals...they sent me the wrong color decal...I asked for gray and they sent me white.....I called them about it, and this woman was kinda rude and short with me about it, even though I was saying it wasn't a big deal.....anyway I convinced her to send me the right ones....we'll see, I've just heard of alot of problems then experienced one myself, hopefully my new ones will get here within the week. |

Decalkits.com has good decals at good prices. They will custom print any thing. I got my Jeep decal on my hood from them, the right color and everything. They ship fast too, it may have taken a week to get mine, custom work takes two weeks or so to get shipped. I highly recommend www.decalkits.com You can get whatever you want super quick. |

That's why I tell you guys to order this stuff from me instead. You know where to find me if I let you down - and you help out the site because it enables me to get cheaper prices on the lost stuff I do because I am bringing more work into the sign shop. |

I ordered decals from Motor City and never received them. Since I paid w/ PayPal I was able to get a refund. I wanted the darn stickers so bad I gave it another shot a month later since I couldn't find another vendor out there. It took about 3 weeks to get them and they shipped the decals in a regular envelope w/ the decal folded over a couple of times. I would highly recommend getting the decals from someone other than Motor City. |

I hope you guys are sending/calling in complaints about that. Let them know that you are going to spread the word that they are bad customer service and don't deliver their product in a quality manner. |

Yeah I did that...but the woman I spoke to about my wrong product before, ended up being the "complaints dept." as well when I called back....I'm just waiting on my correct decals to arrive then thats it, no more from them.....I think they are just a small outfit with a couple of staff...they're webite is garbage, thats usally a good indicator anyway.......where just gonna have to go word of mouth on this |

Well I hope this doesn't happen to me. If it does, believe me, they will get a few earfulls. Anyway, I should have asked around, in the mean time, I'll just keep my fingers crossed. |

It looks like we are all having different experiences with Motor City. Mine arrived quickly and in good shape. |

So I was looking at the website that was posted and all I can find is a font that almost matches the one that everyone has. But no matter what I do the A comes out in capital. How do I get it to a lowercase A? Also for those of you whom put the decal on the side of the hood (on the ridge by the doors) what size have you been getting for that? |

I have ordered from motor city 2-3 times , gotten my order w/in 2-3 days,, no problems.. anyway ,, I have not ever stuck the renegade decals to my hood I did my windshield and back windows,, just to let you know these come off letter by letter... it may be different when applying them to the actual jeep as opposed to the window , but all I did was clean the area line it up and use a spatula (yes a spatula) and rub them off letter by letter , I have had no problems what so ever... |

JeepJunky33, I think everyone that did the hood got the 24"decals. If u leave the decal letters on the top piece of paper, sticky side down you can apply them as in my post on page one. THis allows u to reposition them if need be and also maintains the spacing between the letters as well as keeping them all on the same horizontal line. Quote: But no matter what I do the A comes out in capital
Don't order the custom ones, order the "Renegade" ones and they are already done in that font. This is the order link: http://www.motorcitydecals.com/jeep_006.htm http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=2115&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45 See the above post for more discussion on these decals..... |
