riptricket wrote: well i thought about it.. and there is very little area that water can get onto the filter. It will get wet, where do you think all of the water from the roof and windshield area drains to?Plus look at the cowl,it has a billion holes in it. Yep just a wasted 30mins.
I hope I am right! and plus after it rains I will check it. Do you think that it will help in the cleaning or was it just a waste of 30 minutes? |

A surgical mask would work better. |

In case anyone reads this:
Used some filter material from walmart. It doesnt catch fine stuff but it keeps most of the dust and pollen out. |

The lip of the screen holder is quite high and should prevent most water from getting on your 'filter'. If the lip didn't we would all have water pouring on to the passenger-side floorboards. John ];') |

If order to avoid the "mold" from developing on a sponge material (being used to filter pollen) a subsitute material should be used. I have always considered purchasing a large charcoal fish tank filter and fitting that to the HVAC intake. The mess on the fish filter is designed to work in a wet environment. It would be up to the individual KJ operator to install the charcoal nuggets into the mesh. |

I suppose you could get some swamp cooler filter material and use that as well. Though it would probably not filter as well as other materials. John ];') |

This is a question that's related to the above posts, so I'm hoping someone can help me. I own an '04 Liberty Sport. When I switch the A/C from outside air to recirculate, I lose 90% of the fan power & there's lots of noise from the fan working harder. I originally thought it was a clogged cabin filter, as that's what I experienced in another vehicle (yes, other vehicles exist). After reading these posts, I see the error of my ways and am now convinced that there is something clogging the cabin air intake. I'm in Texas - gotta have that recirculate working properly. My problem is that I can't find the intake for the cabin recirculated air. I took the panel off above the front passenger's feet and saw nothing. I even held a tissue up while the A/C was running to see if I could find any moving air. Still nothing. Any help out there? |

WOW! Thanks for all the suggestions! I guess that's what makes this discussion group so FANTASTIC. Just in case someone else needs to know... I asked a local shop and they told me the recirculation intake is behind the glove box. I took the box out and found the screen in front of the intake was clogged with dust. Vacuumed it and the recirculation fan blows strong again. I think I will dump this account now.
