Hey, I've got a 2006 KJ in my possession while my ARB is being installed (I'll start a new thread on that shortly with pics!). What can we learn from it? I've got questions: 1) the new key fob is part of the key. Can I buy one of those for my 2003 KJ (i do not have sentry keys)? Will this work? How much? 2) the rear tail light lenses have clear instead of yellow turn signals. Hmm. I wonder how they'd look in my 2003? Psst, hand me that torx screwdriver, will ya? 3) THERE'S A REAR, INTERIOR LIGHT now right over the rear seatbacks! LET THERE BE LIGHT! 4) ESP or whatever they call their traction control thing. whateva. 5) there's tons more small stuff, but I'm not writing a review here. I'd like to know about the key fob thing. I like that key. |

Well.. Don't lose that key fob.. When my wife and I got our 2006, we picked up a spare key.. It was $119.. I think that was the price plus tax.. EXPENSIVE!! As for it working with a 2003.. I don't know.. I just know it is expensive... Ben |

Could you take photos of the interior light over the back seats? I'd like to see what it looks like from the factory and there really isn't a dealership near here (I think the closest one is over 1000 miles away) |

Except for the ESP / Traction Control, that is new for 2006. But you can't take that! I think it is possible to install 05/06 rear taillights in an 04 and earlier, but the cost of getting them will rival the cost of getting alteza lights off eBay, so it may not be worth it unless you can get a deal on parts (I do like the not-amber look a lot, though) |

Tell us about the small things, i already knew about all that other stuff. Have you used the esp yet? go down the Highway and turn the wheel all the way left to see if it works. |

That new 05/06 key/fob combo also contains the theft deterent chip that Jeep calls "vehicle immobilization system." CoooOOOOOOOoooool. Dropped my insurance by...ohh, about $.067/decade...give or take a dollar. Nice to know that my Jeep will not run for someone that starts it without one of my two keys though. I'm going to post a bunch of picts in the picts section some time soon. If there's anything specific that anyone wants to see in an 05 CRD, let me know and I'll try to post picts of it. I only have ext and int shots loaded onto my computer at the moment though, no underbelly or engine bay shots yet. |

I also had a $100 plus quote from DC for a spare key. What a joke. I found one on e-Bay for $18.90 delivered to my door. I need to have it cut yet and then I can train it. |

I may have accidentaly "borrowed" the neat canvas holder for the manual and left my plastic one in a rental. I must have gotten confused looking at them both at the same time. |

THEY'RE CANVAS NOW??? (he says as he runs out to the garage) THANKS FOR THE TIP! I'm still debating swapping out the tail lights. They come off easily to change bulbs. I might get confused while changing my bulbs too. Good suggestions. Keep `em coming! |

Wouldnt all this be considered stealing? |

My wife, the ex-DA and currently a defese attorney made that same argument. But we're only talking in hypatheticals here. Truth be told, the thing I'm "stealing" most is the idea on how to mount a center interior light! Just looking for ideas mostly! |

I didnt mean to sound mean. If it were me, and i could just change the parts, i would. I wouldnt think twice about changing out the tail lights, i would also change the air box in the engine b/c one of my little clips broke the first time i looked at the filter. Cheap box, DC shouldnt of made it suck so bad, thats what i would say to myself. |

Technically speaking: Arnt you stealing the miles from a rental anway? I mean think about it. You get a car and drive it arround so you dont put miles on your KJ. If you swap the tail lights...its borrowing without returning...but its still borrowing. Your also paying for the dang thing so you may as well take what you want. |

"Stealing" is such a strong word. I think "trading" is more appropriate. |

YOu mean that new, middle interior light? I'll look. But you should easily be able to get that from a dealer (in theory) |
