Going to have the KJ flushed before Ouray. DC seems pretty emphatic about only using Dex-cool antifreeze for the KJ. Can Amsoil's propylene-glycol antifreeze be used instead?

TIA

DO NOT USE DEXACOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like stated only use GO5 coolant(Zerek).I know that Ford has a TSB about propylene-glycol antifreeze, basically do not use since it will damage the cooling system and Ford uses the same coolant your KJ does, take that info for what it is.

DON'T use Dexclog in anything!!!!! I immediately flushed out any of my GM vehicles that had it and wnet back with the old green stuff. That stuff is garbage.

For sayings sake....what happens if the universal tuff is used along with the G06??

Whats the best way to flush the old orange stuff out? I noticed some type of "gunk" in the reservoir kinda feels "waxy" and I believe it is from the coolant. Is it a good idea to go with the same green stuff that I'm used to running in my Ford vehicles?

Gotcha, unfamiliar with the color of Zerex GO5. Assumed is was green  . Does anyone else have the waxy build-up in their reservoir?

If you must use something else besides GO5(HOAT) coolant you can use Ethylene Glycol(the old green stuff) but you must change it every year.

HOAT coolant(GO5) is low silicate based coolant.

Dexacool(any universal coolant) is OAT which has no silicates.

Ethylene Glycol is high silicate based coolant,HOAT coolant is based off Ethylene Glycol coolant.

Same things apply between CRD and Gassers. G-05 or Mopar branded coolant ONLY. Nothing else should be put in the KJ [not even the universal stuff]

If you can't get G-05 or Mopar from your service center than find one that carries this product.

By the way, NAPA carries it, they may not have it on the shelf but its in the parts book. Check with your local store, and ask for ZEREX.
