Going to take the plunge and get the rear tow hook from the stealership. I was wondering how hard it is to install and if I need to take the rear bumper off?

would you recommend a shackle over a hook on the reese? i used the hook on my reese at camp jeep VA with no problem except an occassional scrape on steep descent/approach coming out of creek bottoms.

strap can and will at times come off of a hook, will never come off of a shackle

i'd always recommend a shackle over a hook, a cable, strap or rope coming free from a hook is extremely dangerous/deadly

it takes a little longer to hook up to a shackle, but typically you'll hook up your recovery straps to the shackle before you go wheelin and just throw it into your cargo area and shut your window and if you need it it's already hooked up

plenty of stuff in the fab section for putting clevis' on the front

it's that or replace the entire front fascia with a steel bumper

plan on installing bumper down the road. will wait until then and put up with the hooks.

i used the hooks on the front the way they sit with the front bumper i realy would not worry about the strap coming off but for the back i would go with a hitch u can get one on ebay for the same price as the hook form the dealership then you can get a hook for $10 or a shakl for like 30 for the hitch then you have a hitch if you ever need it

Even though I have a custom rear Hook installed as an option, a D ring is the best way to go. The strap will come off the rear hook if you tug it hard enough on the way back. Get a tow hitch instead.
