closed. Also, remember to hold keep the brake pedal down and be sure to tighten the bleeder valve before allowing the brake pedal to return to normal. other wise you will suck air into it. Or attach a tube onto the bleeder valve and submerge it in a container of clean brake fluid to watch for bubbles and in the event the brake pedal sucks back in it will suck fluid instead of air. A brake pressure bleeder is a good thing to have and its also easy to make out of a garden sprayer. |

Now it's time to replace the brake fluid in the KJ. Does somebody know how much of DOT3 fluid is needed to do a complete flush/ replacing?? One more question about this. When bleeding the lines, the moment I should let the old fluid go through the hose while somebody else press the brake pedal, the fluid reservoir must be closed or open? Thanks in advance |

I have the Motive Power Brake Bleeder (LINK). Works great, easy to use. I would recommend about 2-3 quarts, depending on how dirty your fluid is. |

I buy 1 large bottle of DOT 4 and us it. DOT is nice, but DOT 4 is a good upgrade. Or DOT 5.1, but it cost more.. never use DOT 5... it does not do well for daily driving... |

The main difference between DOT 3 and DOT 4 is simply boiling point. 3 is generally rated at 525 F (274 C) while DOT 4 is rated at 580 F (304 C). If you want one of... if not the best brake fluids on the market, buy Amsoil from fellow LOST member & Amsoil dealer JJsKJ. His web site > HotRodOil. He'll hook you up. Speaking of JJsKJ, I recently asked him about flushing the system, so I'll share what he explained to me; You will need about 2-3 bottles of brake fluid, pump or suction out the master and refill then chase all the old fluid out using the bleeder screws while continuing to top off the master. By the time you get through the 2nd bottle it should be pretty clean fluid coming out and use the 3rd for top off and future bleeding if necessary. You can thank JJ'sKJ (not me) when you place a order. |

One of these days I'm gonna break down and buy one but I have always had good luck doing it the long, drawn out, old fashioned way. Also a great way to teach your kids so they know how to do it too. |
