I ordered new trans cooler lines for my '06. Has anyone replaced these before? The service manager at the dealer warned me that they are "a real b1tch" to replace, and that a special tool is needed for the connections. Any advice is appreciated.

only special tool i've ever used on lines like that was a line wrench, it's like, similar to a closed end wrench with a slot for the line so that you don't jack it up using an open ended wrench

I can't imagine that it would be any more "special" than that

I'm sure if it is someone will chime in

These don't use a threaded fitting. They have a flare in the metal line, and then a plastic disc-type fitting, which according to the service manager, you need to snap into place. They're unlike anything I've seen before.

At the cooler end, you only need something like this: http://www.etoolsetc.com/content-produc ... _8_pc.html

Easy to use, nothing magical or difficult about it.

one of my cooler hoses rusted where the bracket attaches....how hard did the replacement end up being? did you need the tool linked above for the core end or were you able to use something else?

The 04 service manual I've got doesn't list it as having a trans cooler
