so my jeep has 37k and the piece of ---- dealer i bought it from seems to have screwed me one the 100k power train warranty. another story to tell later. anyway thought it was the starter did a little banging nothing. them realized the solenoid was making a loud clunk so i thought it could be that so i took it off its moving freely inside. so i jumped in my vise and it worked . could it still be the starter and what else could it be

did you try jumping the battery?

Thanks for throwing me under the bus Evil... Just remember this when you decide to turn yours back in to a... Real Jeep.

yes battery is good

The starter is not covered under any powertrain warranty, the starter falls under electrical(charging and starting). The powertrain warranty only covers internally lubricated parts in the engine,transmission,t-case,and F/R diffs.

Check the battery again, just to make sure. Then replace the starter if the battery is 100% good. You got the starter out so your halfway done.
