The rear glass is squeeking from the top two hinges where the rubber pad meets the glass, in between the hinge and the glass. I tried to loosen the Torx screw on the bottom of the window and it seemed SO tight that I thought I was gonna strip it out. So I thought that the top plastic cover on the hinge would pop off by prying in the little slot on the lower potion of the hinge. I noticed I started to damage it a lil, so I stopped both methods and decided to ask you guys before I do any damage. What needs to come off and will I even be able to tighten anything if the Torx screw on the bottom is already tight. Ideas?

I don't know about the Torx screws, but a little WD40 might do the trick.

I didnt really wanna put wd40 on the glass, with all the rain we been getting, it would streak all over and then it would all wash out in a wash or two anyways. WD40 never seems to last more than a couple weeks :?

That's because WD-40 is not a lubricant, its for protection against water. I'd try a shot of Silicone Lube into each side of the hinge.

Has anyone else had this problem??? It is not the hinge that is squeeking, it is the rubber against the glass. I didnt wanna lube it because it is on glass and also, lubricant likes to deteriorate rubber... Anyways, I am just lookin for someone who can tell me whats the SAFEST way to take the thing apart to tighten something or just clean under the hinge and see if the does the trick.

Mine was doing the same thing and spread a thick silicone grease all over the rubber seal going all around the glass. Its still there after a year and everything doing good.

100% sure its the window rubbing against the rubber pad under the hinges at the top of the glass. I can put my palms on the glass and with a little bit of pressure and movemnt, the sound is very evident. Does anyone know the safe way to take the cover off those hinges? It would have to be done in replacing the glass. I am just not prepared to replace broken parts to find out how to take em apart. I thought it couldnt be that tough, but that stuff is on there pretty good :x . ggrrr

well to make you feel better mine does the same thing. It IS the glass, because If I open and shut the glass once or twice it will go away. I think it kinda depends on the EXACT spot that it lands on. It is quite annoying.

Does yours do it constantly while driving?

Does a bear crap in the woods?

YES!! Obviously you can see how annoyed it can make a person :x . There has to be a way to take them hinges off. Have you tried? Just a good tightening or cleaning would stop it. Not like it came that way.

Well I think mine may have to do with a small antenna wire I have running through there.

Do you have any wires through there?

Umm, I do have the rear window defroster. But if I just put my hands on the glass and apply pressure, you can hear it sueek right at the hinges. Try it on yers. I dont think it has anything to do with the any wires. Nothing but the glass and the rubber padding.

Just curious, but did you see my post?

Those caps do pop off but breaking them is highly likely. We had a Jeep lock its keys inside of it offroad once and we tried to pop those off. The clip that holds them on broke but they still went back on.
