Post subject:  Trial Rated Badges

Ok is this a Missouri thing or am I crazy? On all the KJs around here and the other Jeeps with the Trail Rated badges are they only on the driver side fender? I swore they were on both sides but I saw 2 different KJs today and they only had them on one side. Just wondering. Thought about putting one on my 02 just because I like how they look. And mine is a Renny so it should be Trail Rated right?

They are on the drivers side only. If your renny is 4wd then it's trail rated. 2wd's are not.

Uh no, not that much....

The "cheap" quality ones for the 2004 are available for $24.77+S&H:

The "better" quality ones for the 2005-2007 are available for $21.35+S&H (go figure):

The 2008+ badge appears to be identical to this just a different part number.
There were no badges for 2002-2003, but some earlier KJs got different placements of their 4x4 badges:

Note: you can actually see the reflection of my 2004 off of this 2003 and see the left side mounted trail-rated badge as well...

"Trail Rated" doesn't mean anything, so why worry about it? $20+ for a little doohickey that says something that means nothing?

Agreed. It was actually just a Jeep marketing campaign started in 2004. But some folks like their doo-dads...

Glad I was wrong on the pricing...
Well Trail ratedness is cool.

Sure it is marketing, but it is Jeep...

wasn't there a rumor that theTrail Rated badge actually covered a dimple in the body where the antenna would go on a Euro model and the Euros have the badge on the other side?

Why go with trail rated honestly?

I mean you can get a much cooler trail TESTED badge right here on the website.

Then what would they have done on the 4x2 models that are so popular in the South? ;)

Exactly. Just a myth, there is no lift side dimple that I could tell. I've had the badge off for body work on that fender and it looked just like the other...

That would mean I have to test it on a trail to get the badge. I'm a mall crawler at heart. And I have no front tow points. The #1 rule for wheeling front and back tow points.
