I got this info from a friend:

Penetrating Oils Compared

Machinist's Workshop magazine actually tested penetrates for break out torque on rusted nuts. Significant results!

*They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrates with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment.*

*Penetrating oil ..... Average load*

None ...................... 516 pounds
WD-40 ................... 238 pounds
PB Blaster .............. 214 pounds
Liquid Wrench ......... 127 pounds
Kano Kroil .............. 106 pounds
ATF-Acetone mix........53 pounds
Plain ole brake fluid.
Marvel Mystery Oil works well also.

*The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50 - 50 automatic transmission fluid and acetone*
*Note the "home brew" was better than any commercial product in this one particular test. A local machinist group mixed up a batch and all now use it with equally good results. Note also that "Liquid Wrench" is about as good as "Kroil" for about 20% of the price.*

Tip:
This might be quicker, cheaper easier way. Heat up said nut for bolt with a torch (I use Mapp Gas) until it glows red. Take your favorite smelling candle and smother onto the red hot nut bolt, screw, ect. Wait will it cools completely, remove like normal.

Man that's hard to beleive! In my experience, PB Blaster is FAR better than Liquid Wrench. Must have been my imagination  .

The use of ATF is very interesting. I've seen synthetic ATF recommended for firearms lubrication as well. One professional gunsmith, on a forum I read regularly, uses nothing but Dextron ( Maybe he's hoping that one of the gun lube mfg's see it and make him a deal to endorse their stuff).

I've been using ATF very sparingly on my weapons and find the actions very smooth and no signs of attracting dirt. Now I have another use for it.

I've heard of different ATF/ solvent mixtures. I too will stand behind the PB Blaster, hands down. I believe in most real world tests, lab tets can be deceiving sometimes.

Yes you're right. lab results can be so much more manipulating than say...... marketing people for example.
