I have been thinking lately about this bc im going into the new tire route here soon. But as you flex on a trail wouldnt it be easier to stuff a 30 than a 31 into your wheel well? like couldnt u get alil more flex with a 30? or am I just thinking stupidly? I want to go with the best tire for performance and look bc I have 29.5's on now and it looks kinda dull bc the tires are so small, but when im on the trail it seems like I can stuff the tires easily bc they are smaller.

If you are hitting the trail, think about how much height you will get with a bigger tire. I used to listen to the rocks slamming my skids constantly. Now I rarely hit them. You really don't want the stuffage in your wheel wells since it can scrape your flare rivets off and knock off your flares. At the same time, bigger tires mean you will rub when turning (may not be until full lock though). Bigger tires cost more. Clearance and better approach angle are more important to me. You decide what is important to you.

as usual joe hit it on the head, i will say this though.. depending on the tire type and brand, the larger ones aren't always more expensive but it does hold true for most

I have 32" but I do acknowledge this tire is for the serious enthusiast only.
