Post subject:  Tow Hook Help!

So yesterday I tried to put on my front tow hooks, and quickly learned that it wasnt going to happen at all. See I dont have the "M" bolt for the two holes in the fram, instead I have some flat piece with two wings on each side, and bolts already on it. Its kinda hard to explain, but I have see someone on here that has had them also. Anyway I have no idea how to get that piece into the fram so it can hag down, and I can bolt the darn hooks on!!! So just wanted to know if anyone knows how to go about this, or has pictures of this install, or whatever. Please help, I cant go to the beach untill I get them, dont wanna take anymore chances without them. Thanks guys.

For the version of mounting hard ware you have, you must pull the front bumper and the crush cans off. Under the cans you will see an opening where you can slide the mounting plate into the front subframe. Bolt up the hooks and reassemble.

I just put tow hooks on with the same hardware. It took 30mins at the most. 2 bolts under, 2 near the headlights 4 plastic thingys (two in each fender well) and two more under the bumper, I had to cut the last two off. Once you get the bumper off, I think it was a 10mm socket to get the crush cans off. Once that is off, the hardware with the studs will slide and clip right in. Then add the clip that holds the single bolt on the other side of the hooks and everything will bolt right up.

Pop Rivets and Tool can be found much cheaper at your local NAPA but they may have to order it for you:

i just removed my stock bumper, removed my stock oem hooks, and installed an ARB bumper. and yes, for the kind you are talking about, with the flat plate with 2 studs, you have to remove the bumper and remove the 2 "crush cans", slide the plate in the frame, install tow hook, install and tighten the 2 nuts, and then install 1 "threaded clip" per tow hook with a bolt, then re-install the 2 crush cans
