Post subject:  Primer for plastic help!!!!

So i'm in the process of painting my passenger side A - Piller to match the Lotek gauge pod and having a REALLY hard time getting paint to stick to it :x
I'm already using Dupli color vinyl and fabric paint. Had no problems with the gauge pod. So What now? I have lightly sanded it, Cleaned it with Rubbing alcohol. But the crap WILL NOT stick. Is there a PRIMER That will BOND to plastic or whatever it is? Will RustOleum plastic primer work? Or is that garbage too? Thanks for the help!

Try DupliColor Adhesion Promotor, followed by Krylon Fusion. Remember preparation is key.

I used the Dupli color vinyl and fabric paint But I did not sand... Just cleaned... It's sticking nicely...
Guess that is not an option for you now...
Could it be too hot or humid out?

Since the A pillar covers are not smooth there is not really a need to sand... Unless you sand them down completely and get rid of the little dimples.... But who would sand anything that much?!?!

There's a product line from SEM for plastics and vinyl that has gained a very good reputation in the musclecar restoration market. Its a package system with cleaner, adhesion promoter, primer, and dye. I don't know where the best place to get it is and I'd imagine it isn't cheap, but the folks using it seem to really like the results.

Bulldog Adhesion Promotor. I have been using it for years and it has never failed me.
