This was my first jeep jamboree and my first time really taking my liberty off road. I have done some offroading with a Toyata P/U many years ago but nothing recently. I did the green and yellow trails which are both rated around a 4 but it was pouring rain for a week ahead of the Jamboree and all day during day #2 so they were prob a lot harder than 4. I didnt take any by-passes and I didnt get strapped or winched at all. I actually pulled the guides jeep off a stump when he got hung up. My stock liberty did pretty good. I made it up a section where only 1/2 the jeeps made it and they had to winch a few rubicons up it. My skid plates and rock rails were HEAVILY used and they are all scraped up and I may have to replace the fuel tank one becasue it bent it so it is touching the tank. The mopar rock rails held up pretty good but they have a few dings in them. I cut off the bottom part of my bumber because I was dragging it when I went over a lot obstacles. All in all I had an awesome time the guides were great and I cannot wait to go next year. It is well worth the money. |

The Guides on the Yellow were Blain (not sure about spelling) and his wife and George was at the rear. Scott Cansdale was also on the trail. Which section is the "twisties"? I didnt have any problems with any of the sections. We went up this washed out hill climb where the guides recomended I not do it but I did it anyway and made it. A few rubicons were not as lucky. Almost 1/2 of the jeeps had to be winched. Scott Cansdale was guidng me up and he said he couldnt belive I got an unlifted liberty up it. I just favored the skinny pedal and picked the best line I cold find. I guess it was the right one. There was one section, it was the first you could by-pass where you had to go up a very steep mound of dirt, and through a wooded section where there was a down tree (about 12-14 inches in diameter) and you had to go over the tree and through a very mudy section where there was a couple of nice little stumps. I scraped my bumber real good coming up the mound but made it over the tree and through the mud pit with the skinny pedal through the floor and crawled up and out. The best is that a guy in an unlimited sahara with street tires said "good luck getting that liberty through that" in a condesending tone and I made it though and he had to get winched out. He came up to me later and said he has new respect for liberty capability. The second day I pulled out the guides jeep when it got hung up on a stump and the funny thing everyone thoght I was stuck until they saw the guides jeep lurch backward once I started moving. That was on the Green trail with Adam as a trail guide. |

I had Blain as a guide as well.. did he teach you how to make a whistle out of a branch from a stripe maple tree?? if not you missed out! the 'twisties' was a very very very technical section of rocks (big rocks and never ending rocks) in VERY tight turns with trees threatening body work everywhere you looked. they might have changed the trail since i was on it. i did yellow the first year i went (2007) |

There was a section of trail that was very narrow and there were alot of twists and turns and large rocks and logs at the turns but not anything where I needed someone to guide me over it. I scraped my door once in that section, between two trees. I was on my skids and rock rails a lot during that section. Two people got flat tires on that section. I am not sure that is it but that sounds the closest to it. There was a bunch of unlimited wranglers behind me and Blain spent most of his time getting them out of trouble. He figured out pretty quick that I didnt need very much help and was capable of doing most of it without a spotter. The nice thing about he liberty is the prescise steering control that you have. It is very easy to put your tires exactly where they need to be. I spent the entire day on my skids and rock rails but that is what they are for. Blain did not show us how to make a whistle but he did talk alot about forestry ad oil and gas which I found very interesting (I have a associates degree in forestry). |

I will try that but I will have to wait until I go back to work on Tuesday becsuse I have dial up and it is real slow. I will try it then (and I can get paid for doing it because I will be at work |

Sweet! Sounds like some good times at that event. Also very nice that another condescending owner was put in their place and gave you respect. |

I was wondering about that. i would think the liberty would do better than a stock 4 dr JK at certain things because of the shorter wheel base. |
