So, we take the Renny in to Firestone for an alignment. Manager and tech both said to get a perfect alignment we need to install shims and replace the eccentric bolts on the rear left (for an estimated meer $200!) Anybody heard of this before? And/or do we really need it??? :? :? :?

When I put my lift on and took it to be aligned at a freinds shop he had to order a shim kit for the front but he still only charged me 50 bucks and I haven't had a problem with it since . Almost two years.

I think they're trying to put it in your rear
I went to the one on Roselle and Wise rds. Not far from you.
They had no problems with my rear settings.

The rear is non adjustable on a KJ as far a alignment,if it's out of spec you got something bent.If they are refferring to the front LCA cam bolts you already have them installed and no shims needed anywhere.

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, we both kinda thought the shop was just "phishing" for more work.

I don't think the rear is out of spec, either. The wear on the rear tires looks pretty even to me. Also, I figure I would've noticed something while driving if the rear was out of alignment.

(We've been taking our Jeeps in to this Firestone for the last couple of years. I'm beginning to wonder about them. They were going to charge us $260 to change out the radiator hoses!   )

I think the shop ment front control arm's rear bolt/ecentric !!! Chis's was frozen up and I had to cut all 4 off and then repaced bolts/ecentric's when he replaced his lower (RED) control arm's !!!
