| Post subject: | Strange sound from right side |
Yesterday a noise started up from the right side of the kj - started out as a 'swishy' clanking as I'd go down the road. Noise increased as speed increased, thought I had something caught in the wheel/brakes that was rubbing. Today the noise has progressed into what can best be described as a 'ratcheting' clanking - still coming from the right side ( I think the rear ) but its louder and much more noticeable than it was yesterday. Still speeds up as vehicle speeds up. Noise happens when moving - when car is idling no noise. The level/intensity of the noise stays the same regardless of applying brake/e brake. Going on a trip to Milwaukee tomorrow so first chance to take wheels off and thoroughly investigate is Saturday - any ideas what could be up here ? |

That's why my first pm to you yesterday was questioning the bearings Wouldn't the bearings be more of a grinding and also a constant sound ? This does the metallic ratcheting sound off and on which is why I was thinking there was something stuck that was rubbing/making contact every wheel revolution... |

Be careful, a bad hub noise can be mistaken for a worn CV joint or vise versa. Make sure you diagnose properly. |

If you're pretty sure this is coming from the back, then I think bearings would be more likely. good job. you beet me too it. Great article |
