Post subject:  Frankenlift Alignment Specs

Hey guys i went to Firestone today to try to get an alignment and they said they could do the best job if they had specs for the alignment once the jeep was lifted rather than use the stock specs. Do any of you know the specs for a 2004 KJ with a Frankenlift with 245/75's? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This is my before and after settings.
Buy the lifetime alignment package, well worth the price.
Mine rides straight and true, like riding on rails!

And yes, I'll post pics of my Jeep tomorrow after work.

The specs are the same for non-lifted or a lifted KJ.Now with OEM UCA's it may be harder to get the camber/caster back into specs.

yep, my casters had to be set to match so the cross caster would be ok but they are both out a hair now.

Now that we know you can use Factory specs then tel them this.

Caster does not matter truely, just get them equal.

You care about Camber the most.
Then Toe...

Yes and no.....................

Caster drastically effects steering effort and vehicle tracking at speed, caster also is not always set(OEM specs) to be equal from side to side due to trying to counter act the "crown" of the road.

A short and simple explanation of caster...................
Quote:
When you turn the steering wheel, the front wheels respond by turning on a pivot attached to the suspension system. Caster is the angle of this steering pivot, measured in degrees, when viewed from the side of the vehicle. If the top of the pivot is leaning toward the rear of the car, then the caster is positive, if it is leaning toward the front, it is negative. If the caster is out of adjustment, it can cause problems in straight line tracking. If the caster is different from side to side, the vehicle will pull to the side with the less positive caster. If the caster is equal but too negative, the steering will be light and the vehicle will wander and be difficult to keep in a straight line. If the caster is equal but too positive, the steering will be heavy and the steering wheel may kick when you hit a bump. Caster has little affect on tire wear.

so you guys suggest to tell them to use the factory specs? I had one done at sears and they did a really poor job, and told me it was the best they can do. The wheels are leaning inwards and it pulls hard to the right. i will scan the paper in the morning. I have brand new mt's and the last thing i want is a poor wear pattern. I just wanna get it set right.

The can get it close with OEM arms, I work for a summer job at Firestone and have brought mine to a few different ones before I started there and all have got it close to spec. Good tire wear and it handles well
