While we were doing the lift last Sat., we noticedsomething strange.
There were at least 3 '02's there, and mine was the only one
that had both an electric fan, and a mechanical fan. It was built
6/01, could it be DC hadn't made up it's mind which way to go at that time?

IIRC you got both fans with the factory tow package along with the tranny cooler.

Nope, no package, no H/D trans cooler. (just checked to be sure)
Maybe they were thinking it would be ordered when built?

You can have HD cooling without having the tow package.

02's, early 03's had trans cooler in the radiator, Mid-03's and later had external trans oil coolers, nothing heavy duty about it.

Heavy duty engine cooling came w/ tow package or off road group which included all factory skids, or at least in 03 that was true. I don't recall a seperate way to order heavy duty cooling other than those two ways.

Either way, it included both a clutch and electric operated fan and the larger shroud for the clutch fan. I have seen the larger shroud included on later models, late 03 and newer regardless of cooling package. You just never knew what the line was gonna do on some days and I think they just threw whatever they had on hand at some Jeeps on some days.

Yea, my '02 LTD has full skids  and no tow package,
so that's what I'm thinking.

:? I'm confused. I watched you install a Mopar engine/tranny skid yellocoyote gave you - did your KJ originally come with full skids?
