Spark Plugs

I was debating about changing my plugs in my 02. How hard are they to get to for an amateur mechanic? I know in my 98 Blazer they weren't to bad all except for one that I had to remove the front tire and become a contortionist to get out! :roll:

They are not hard. Much easier then any of the VW's I have had.

yeah man, shelling out the big bucks for someone else to do it is what I used to do.
It is very very easy to do! takes ~15 mins, maybe a little longer since it will be your first time.. no jokes!.. and it will help your engine and your wallet!

It took me about 3 hours! I was nervous and took my time though. Next time will be faster I hope. :roll:

Ok now that I've decided I can do it myself what kind of plugs do you guys suggest? Good, Bad, Ugly?

NGK, there the OEM plugs anyways. Other than that if your feeling rich Bosch Platnium +4 or something like that, but there is a huge debate about that.

I think I'll keep it cheap with NGK or Autolites.

NGK are great plugs, I think most folks here use them.

i am going to try the champion platinum series. no v-power groove crap or 4 posts... it's just a plain old sparky with platinum... supposedly!

i went through a whole slew of different plugs before settling back with
NGK ZFR6FIX-11 iridiums

but of course the problems i was having with the other plugs was electronic feedback through the system due to the coils not being able to push the plugs

haven't tried them again since i put 6 new coils in though, the performance of those other plugs (autolite double plats, autolite xtremes) were fine, i was just tryin to find plugs that didn't bleed into my cb and my radio

When I did mine I used some extensions and u joints and didn't have to move anything out of the way.

I used autolites and they run fine. I had bosch on a different vehicle and didn't like that the tips were screw on and would come loose.

These sparks have the tip secured on, they never foul and need no gap or cleaning. So small yet so powerful. I will let you all know how they do on my trip to the Lake this week. Buy on sale and they are not a real expensive part. I am changing every 20 K miles. :arrow:
