Post subject:  Amsoil help

Ok, I have never gotten an oil change my self, my dad always got them for me when I had my other car, so now I want to use Amsoil from hearing you guys and from a shop I went to.

But what do I need...Like what type of motor oil (non-synthetic), trans fluid, brake, which oil filter, and what all else do I need???

I can do most of this myself, I got a pump for some of the harder stuff, but I want this thing running good this summer after I lift it (again)

Thanks,

Steve

Kinda confused here, you want to run Amsoil but do not want synthetic oil :?:

You do know that Amsoil is full synthetic right?

The trans takes ATF+4 and Amsoil is not listed as a approved ATF+4 fluid..............
http://centerforqa.com/licensedatf4brands.html

The t-case and P/S also take ATF+4.Use DOT3 or 4 brake fluid.

Actually Amsoil did invent synthetic oils & lubricants for internal combustion engines. The company founder was a fighter pilot who figured he could use a variant of aircraft synthetic fluids for auto's, trucks, etc.

STINGN, you can use any type of oil you want, but I would recommend synthetic. As for Amsoil, their products are second to no one. And don't be misled by a company in the above link that won't list any lubricant oil company who won't pay to be included. Aside from Amsoil, Royal Purple and Redline (who also are not listed )also make fluids that will work for ATF+4. OI know this for a fact because people I know use these products in Mopar Transmissions, etc on the drag strip.

I'm also wondering if you've been paying attention here? JJsKJ is a Amsoil dealer from Southern California and fellow LOST KJ'er, so I would also recommend buying through his site; HotRodOil.com. Ordering from JJsKJ (John) your items will ship from a local warehouse in the Chicago area. you'll get your stuff quick.

And don't forget to ask JJsKJ not what he sells, but rather what he uses in his KJ!

PM me if you need filter #'s, etc. One last thing, the Amsoil Eaa Air filter has no equal. Mainly because their air filter doesn't need to be oiled like the garbage K&N sells.

"atf+4".... whatta joke.
Apparently any transmission fluid that doesn't pay to play can't exceed atf+4 specs. Puh-leeze. Just because it says atf+4 doesn't mean it is some magical fluid that any other company can't create or make better than the original. If you think otherwise, you are mistaken.

I bet lubes w/ an API logo on them are superior too. If you pay the fee you can get that on a bottle of Recyled dino oil telling you it is as good as any newly manufactured synthetic because it meets some minimum standards. tell me again how important that is.

Full Synthetic lubes are superior to other lubes. Few realize that only a handfull of brands are true full syn. Mobil was then wasn't, then came out w/ a full syn again to compete and have been back and forth on oil change interval claims over the years and not really standing behind their product ......wishy washy if ya ask me. But then again, what would you expect from a mutli billion $ making, shareholder run company?

Amsoil has always been synthetic and fwiw had the 1st API automotive full synthetic oil in 1972. Yes, others made syn oils but not for automotive use and spent years catching up.

so anyway.....
Amsoil 5w30 ASL oil is perfect for the KJ.
the Ea034 oil filter fits it.
the eaa201 air filter drops into the stock air box, No special cleaners, no special oil. It is a dry media air filter.
Amsoils full synthetic ATF works great in the trans and transfer case and EXCEEDS atf+4 requirements.
I highly recommend the Amsoil Severe Gear 75w110 syn gear oil for both front and rear diffs on Any application. Don't let anyone fool you into believing that syn gear lubes are not up to task either. Decades old tests on one brand of syn gear lube don't mean S. Try getting any test result info from the companies that say they tested syns and swear they are not as good as dino gear oil. Good luck. I tried. I also found that only a couple mfg's have that view point, not all of them and those testing current syn gear lubes are perfectly happy w/ all the results they see.

I personally don't care what anyone uses, where they buy it, etc. but if you would like a quote, lmk.
