Post subject: ARGH! keys stuck in the ignition!
PostPosted: Thu Jan 12, 2006 12:28 pm
I just finished up installing the XM receiver and stuff up under my console to hide it. Now, even though the Jeep is completely in park, the keys won't turn to the "off" position, and won't come out.

any ideas?

this may seem stupid but did you try rotating the steering wheel left to right while turning the key? My ignition switch gets jammed up all the time and this works. You may want to try starting the vehicle, move the selector through all the gears, then place it back in park turn it off and try removing it. Last but not least-good luck.

Actually, I JUST got it.

I installed the XM receiver and the other box up under the console...the first box was blocking the shifter from going ALL the way into park. oops

eh, if i hold the shifter ALL the way forward, they come out. it's not the box interfering this time. i'll live with it.

Sounds like a shifter issue. Are you still under warranty?

I've got A warranty, but it's got a $100 deductible, so I'd rather not have them mess with it unless i NEED to.

i know on the 05's there is a safety recall with the parking brake. it could be a problem like that on yours.
