NOT It started off that my g/f and I were driving the KJ and I thought I heard something, like a thumping, continous thumping. I got out to check it and I saw nothing wrong with the tire nor suspension. Then it got worse. It was thumping and the steering wheel was jacking around and the vehicle was shaking. I got to her grandma's house and pulled in to find...... MY LUG NUTS WERE LOOSE!!! We are not talking just one or two loose, but all 9 of the front lug nuts, and my math is correct, because one of them was gone! I had Hibdon Tires Plus tow it, ($149 charge of which Hibdon's is paying) and they gave me some crap like "your wheels are aluminum and, therefore, are getting soft and the lug cannot keep its friction." I said BS you guys just did not torque them correctly, and he said nothing. So I will never be going back to that location and I am purchasing all solid lug nuts and a torque wrench! Oh and by the way, it took 2 hours for the tow truck driver to get to my KJ, of which we had to wait outside because the g/f grandma was not home, and it took almost 2 hours for them to do all of their "checking" at Hibdon's. Not to mention, I am in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, THE HOTTEST FREAKING PLACE ON EARTH, almost, but our Temperature was 105 today!!!! SO Ya that sucked! |

Why didn't you just tighten them instead of waiting 2 hrs? |

I had them make sure that no damage was done to the wheel/tire, studs, just everything, and plus I was pissed off to say the least, and not really thinking very straight! |

Yeah you never really think straight when your t'd off! Especially in this wonderful midwest heat wave we are having. That just makes it worse! |

Scary, sorry to hear of your troubles. I have had issues on my other car with the tire shop over torquing/cross threading the lug nuts and stripping the studs. They love those air tools, to bad they don't love torque wrenches. Here it is 105... when we get a cold front coming through. At least we don't have as much humidity. |

You do know that you must recheck the lugnut torque after the wheels have been removed/reinstalled after about 50-100miles right? It say's so right in the owners manual and is more needed with alloy rims. |
