Is there anything i can do about this?

I added a EVIC with home link and everything seems to function properly, except i don't have a reading for instant mpg.

Will an alternate evic give me the instant mpg, is this one broken? Or am i screwed because of my year/model?

To be clear, it has a readout for instant mpg, it's just always sitting at 0.
The average mpg functions 100%.

Thanks!

instant MPG will never work if the EVIC year is lower than the KJ year. Especially past 05 i think.

Would you be interested in buying an EVIC from a 2004 grand cherokee(which should work 100% with your KJ?)

Would you be interested in buying an EVIC from a 2005 CRD meant to work with the TPMS?

Sam, the only feature i actually care about is instant mpg, i don't want/need tpms.

Supposedly any evic from 2003 on will NOT have instant mpg.

The evic i have is from a 2002 300c w/o tpms and with homelink. The average mpg works, as does everything else (eBay'd it for 24 dollars shipped).

Is it possible that this is a bcm/ecm issue and not the evic's fault?

Thanks :P

No, the instant MPG feature is not supported on your Jeep.

ThunderbirdJunkie wants the 300c from whence your EVIC came!

TruLiberty, supposedly a harness from a intrepid is the cheapest way to get the connector, 40 bucks from mopar, it comes with a wiring harness, i dont have the part number but its a good place to start.

However, i simply cut the casing off from around the evic's plug, and soldiered directly to the pins. Just be quick about it so you don't damage the pcb. I was going to take it apart and solder directly to the board but i did not have the proper torx handy.

Knowing what i now know i would have bough a late model evic that would properly bolt up to the bracket that i don't have, and that would easily plug in to the sunroof and light controls. The evic i have has different sized plugs for both.

If the instant mpg is all you were wanting you could of gotten a Scan Gauge 2 and it would of told you much more than just the instant mpg.

SGII is not only unusable in that regard, it is downright dangerous to have on a crd.

Plus the sgII is significantly more expensive than a evic.

Steering wheel harness for a wheel with radio controls is like $25 and has the correct plug.

I have posted about which plugs will work from the junkyard, additionally I have several spare plugs for sale.

Is this True? can anybody confirm that? I was thinking of changing my 05 EVIC with a lower year to get the instant MPG feature..

check out my signature.......my works, never say never! 8)

I was under the impression that the evic actually calculated the mpg (avg and instantaneous) from data received from the ecm via the bus.....maybe it isn't. If I have some time I'll see what I can dig up.

The problem isn't in the EVIC but rather the instant MPG was removed from later years ECM.
