body work

I can't believe I forgot to ask again at the dealership today..............but does any one know how long I should wait to wash and wax including clay bar after body and paint work is done? I just got my Liberty back today from the dealership and am itching so bad to detail it out.......

At least 6 weeks.

Go to a autobody supply store and pic up some 3M's "Race Glaze",it's not wax but protects like wax but will wash off in 1-2 car washes and safe for fresh paint.

'race glaze' is nice stuff... takes out swirl marks and looks just like wax but does not stay on for long. honestly i'd say you'd be safe if you waited a week or two... that is assuming they had a spray booth and put it through a 'bake' cycle... if they did not bake it then yes. wait Atleast 6 weeks. once they come out of the booth baked they are pretty much cured.. if somethings going to solvent-pop it will normally do it during a bake cycle.

Yes this would probably depend on who did the body work and how it was done...

I'm a bit old fashioned in that I believe you shouldn't wax your car the first year. Wash, yes of course, but often waxing just isn't necessary on brand new paint/clear coat. Takes a while for those microscopic cracks and pits to appear which cause water to not bead up.
