I've had my KJ for 10 mos now and love it. BUT, I have to find a way to get around the darn seat belt signal that continues to ding... ding.... ding. when I don't fasten my seat belt. How can I bypass this safety feature. |

You may have already thought of this but how about wearing the seat belt. |

That thing drives me nuts. I live on a long driveway and would like to not have to put the seat belt on once I've collected the mail. There must be way short of creating a dummy metal tab for these occasions. |

You could always disconnect the lead under the seat, however you will have two "dummy" lights activate in the dash - the seatbelt light and the airbag light (not sure if it deactivates teh driver's side airbag). |

Check around page 28 or 38 in your owners manual. There is a sequence where you turn the ignition on, then insert a remove the seat belt from the latch a couple of times. Can't remember which page for sure but it is there. |

yes, there is a sequence to go thru that will permanantly disable the chiming from the seat belt. i did it, and it's great, and yes, i wear my belt all the time, except, when getting the mail, moving around in a parking lot to "get the groceries" etc! LOL |

For your reference, here are the instructions on how to disable the seat belt chiming noise. The following steps must occur within the first 60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON or START position. 1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, and buckle the driver's seat belt. 2. Turn the ignition key to the ACCESSORY / RUN position (engine does not need to be running), and wait for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off. 3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver's seat belt at least 3 times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled. 4. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming. |

Thanks for the info. I hadn't taken the time to look in the manual to see if the chime could be turned off. I always wear my seatbelt but the chime gets annoying when going through the fast food drive-up windows. |

Since I live on a horse farm, and frequently drive across the property (300+ yards) and dont feel the need to wear my belt going <15 mph...I did that a while back, and is so much better than that stupid ding that wont stop! |
