I would soak the nutzert with pb blaster and try it again tomorrow and just go to the hardware store and replace the nut you dropped.

i replaced the nut that I dropped, but still no budge on the skid plate bolt...
Do you think that the dealership would charge anything to have the bolts taken out with an impact wrench and put back in properly?

Lots of skid plates going off and on this weekend: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... 875#497875

X2 an impact to take them off after some PB Blaster.

Getting them off is the first problem. Once that is done:

1) Run a thread chaser over all your bolts a few times. They are probably a rusty mess and this will clean them up. Coat them in anti-seize grease before putting them back in....or do like I plan to do and get some shorter bolts with lock washers...then anti seize those. All of that extra length gets rusty and impossible to get out.

2) get some tapping grease and a 12-1.75 metric tap (for gas tank skid bolts, unsure of the rest). Tap each hole again, as they are probably pretty funky, especially if some of them were never used. If they were all used before, a thread chaser or a tap would help smooth them out some.

Note: if you stripped the bolt or the hole, you should be able to turn it and it shouldn't go anywhere even after spinning. If it won't budge I'll bet a dollar to a donut you're just rusted all to heck...
