Well...just like Terry....the Jeep keeps getting older, so decided to get some extended insurance.

Went through Mogi and got a 5 year, 100,000 mile plan for $145 down and $107.50/month for 18 months. They gave me the silver plan even though I'm lifted. Told them about my aftermarket parts, and they won't replace those...pretty understandable. Also asked them if I went wheeling and broke something if it would be covered. They said as long as when I take it to the shop and don't say "I tried to break this" it would be fine. Road side assistance, towing, rental, parts and labor all covered. Figured since I don't have car payments anymore, the insurance would be worth it.

At least they didn't run away when I said it was lifted.

good idea/bad idea???? opinions.

PS. 2 - 2.5" lift is their max

I dunno, $4015 is a lot to spend. What do you think is going to break that will cost more?

$107.50 x 18 = $1,937 + $145 (downpayment)=$2080

$2080/5yrs = $416 a year

Not too bad....
I've been considering going this route, since I have around 150,000 miles on my KJ....

Totals up to a little more than a dollar a day over the 5 year span. Sounds good to me.

I think it's a good idea. Looks like a fair price.

Did you do your homework first? I would be careful with them... got an "F" rating from the BBB and seem to be in the same ballpark as most scamming ESC's.

http://www.bbb.org/stlouis/business-reviews/extended-warranty-contract-service-companies/mogi-in-saint-charles-mo-310241530

Edit: I was wrong... these ARE the same guys that run the other scams... sorry man, but you need to get out of this ASAP. A class action lawsuit is being put together regarding their cancellation practices.

Mogi is owned by Dealers Warranty LLC (who also owns several other ESC companies)... you can get the general idea if you look them up on http://www.ripoffreport.com

Sorry. :(

steering rack coming up and have had a bad rear pinion bearing for a while...those two alone could cover most of it pretty quickly.

I too thought the price was pretty darn good considering it includes rental and all that which can add onto prices of a repair you wouldn't normally figure and if you only have one vehicle.

I didn't do the research through the BBB, but will. I still have the option to get out till monday if I want.

It looks like you can expect them to hit you with about $300 worth of "marketing fees" and "cancellation fees" if/when you try to terminate the contract.

Lame.

Some of the biggest scams going is this type of insurance. Most have more holes than good swiss cheese. Waste of money most times be very careful

here's a question though, most of these come with a deductible, I hope you checked to see what your deductible is?

Doesn't matter what the deductible is... because most of them don't pay anyways...

I guess we could call it a 100% deductible.

0% deductible is the quote. The key to any extended warranty is that it needs to be on what is in their warranty. Many times people take an extended as that everything is covered and piss about it when its not. No they aren't going to cover oil changes or a new battery. The key is to be educated on what you purchase and why you are making the commitment to it.

Typical L.O.S.T. though. Everyone is so negative about anything. If I look over it and it seems fishy, then I'll have my lawyer look over it and discuss from there.

If they F me over. well then they have a pissed off person in front of their offices ready to do some rock climbing on their vehicles.

Bottom line...I'll let everyone here know how it works out. Just how others did with the JBA lifts, rusty's lifts, aussie lockers, ARB lockers/bull bars, TJM bars, "shady" other front bumper mans, and every other company that makes products for the KJ. If I loose bucks, thats my prob

If anyone wants a copy of the contract when I get it...send me your fax # and Ill send it over so you can make a decision as to how "swiss" it is or not. But yes Tom, we should be very carefull who we give our business to. But a person who gives their money to a shady company....is a moron. I hope not to be said moron.

On another note....I was just offered $17 from the former king of Africa. All I have to do is send over my financial statements, social securticy number and a fecal specimen. I'm so in!!!!! I'M RICH BEOTCHHHHHHH!

if you got a 0% deductible that's not an all bad deal. Btw I'm not negative, just cautious, i have one myself and it's already payed for it's self.

Allignment - Free
New Brake Rotors - Free (had to buy new pads but hey)
New Body Control Module - Free (that paid for it it's self)
Rear Main Leak- $200 Deductible (Had to smooth off the edges to get this one done but it's all good)

Well, I guess lots of excellent companies get an F rating with the BBB. The whole BBB is a sham anyway.

I find it funny when people do something then post a comment like the above
"quote" good idea/bad idea???opinions "unquote"

and then when other people post what they think you get upset.
When I worked in dealerships these were considered free money since the companies paid us good money to talk people into buying it.

I put in my response to be very careful, as they do try to get out of most all repairs they can.

Phil Howell Editor In Chief of 4 Wheel Drive and SUV in the October 2009 issue in his column, 4 Word said and I quote " I suggest you NEVER purchase an extended warranty as they're not worth the paper they're printed on. " unquote

But what is important is that you think you got a good deal.
If you did then the heck with what others think

I hope you read the very fine print, most aftermarket warranties don't cover anything if you vehicle has over 100,000miles,and yes they will sell you the dang thing even if you have over 100,000miles since they don't care.I've dealt with those company's(most have long been gone but new ripoff's take there place fast) since '00 and can only say run far and run fast from them. The only decent extended warrant's are right from the manufacturer.

Just my 2 cents from personal experience from dealing with those companies.

My Dad has been trying to get me to purchase one of these. So far i've avoided it, i get a bad feeling about them. The stuff i'm reading here and elsewhere has convinced me, but my Dad thinks they're ok. He even gave my cell # and e-mail to one of these outfits and they've been bugging me semi-regularly.
