Post subject:  Window Problems

So my driver's side REAR window won't roll up, sounds like it's off the track. Makes a weird noise when trying to roll it up. It also doesn't stay up, I have to wedge some cardboard in it to keep it from moving.

I've read some posts about window regulator problems, and was just curious how much this would cost to get fixed. I will have to check to see if I'm still under warranty, but I don't think I am.

I think it's a $180 or so dealer fix. You can get the parts for $60 or so to do it yourself from the online distributors... sorry :(

Hmm, that's not as bad as I was thinking. I'd rather just let the dealership deal with it. Kind of annoying because it happened out of the blue when I first drove her one morning... What a moody Jeep.

It's actually an easy part to replace... takes about 20 minutes and most of that's just spent trying to figure out how to steer the regulator out of the door... JJsKJ has a writeup somewhere.

Oh, hmmm. Well if it's easy and saves $120 then it can't be all that bad. Anyone have a link to the write up? Or maybe it's time for the unreliable search.

EDIT: Was in tech section. DUH. Instructions are a little vague for me... Maybe my dad can give me a hand.

Anyone have a link for the part? Passenger rear window.

for the passenger rear there is a repair kit that should fix the problem... (before you said drivers front and there's no kit for that one yet)

$80 plus shipping, not bad. There should have honestly been a recall for this crap.

very true... but they won't recall something unless it saves them money as compared to a heap of wrongful death lawsuits. That's about what it takes

The steiger kit is supposed to be a really good permanent fix though... and his instructions rock my socks

RECALL?!?! lol, i'm convinced this is what dragged jeep into the red! i kid but i have had 4 go out on me all at very random times. 2 from the same window. There fix at first was to replace the window regulator now the replace the regulator and window for some reason. . I have 2 new windows from it lol. lucky so far still under the 30k warranty just barely.

I have an 07 BTW they seem to be the worst

JL Rockies has a bad regulator DS rear. JL Rockies used wire ties to hold up the window because it's classier.

weston02kj also uses the tactful zip-tie method

Well mine is held up, but it can be easily slid down. And I don't want it to get broken into while it's parked 20 min away in a parking lot at school. Or for it to snow while it's ever so slightly cracked, and have a wet Jeep to deal with.

Edited my posts, man I must have been tired last night. It's the DRIVERS REAR WINDOW. I guess I should order the kit, this guy sounds like he knows me and my problem personally, haha.

This would be an email I should send him, because there is no phone number, but I need an answer ASAP. If it ships USPS Priority mail, like it says on Steiger Performance's website, do you guys think it should get here before Friday? I know the best we can do is guess, but it's kind of crucial that I have it fixed BEFORE Friday, so having it delivered on Thursday would be ideal.

I go up to school on Friday, and definately don't want to risk my car getting broken into.

You can permanently close the window in the meantime... just take the interior panel off, push the window all the way up (closed) and run a cable tie (zip tie) through the rail so it can't slide back down. Might sound weird but it'll make sense once you're in there.

Oh well I might just do that instead then. I don't really need that window.

Fixed it today with 2 zip ties. Wasn't too bad. Those clips were pretty annoying to deal with though.
