Why can't we just completly remove them? Most guy with wranglers toss them out the second they leave the dealer. |

I believe the reason is because there are integral to the design of the front end, and without them there is not enough rigidity to hold the front bumper in place, especially on the '02-'04. |

Reread that and my fenders were a little wobbly after removing but zip ties fixed that. Myself and many others have removed the inner liner with no ill effects. I did spray the wheel well with bedliner for a little extra added protection...going on 3 years now. |

The plastic liner in mine are completely removed to fit the 265/75/R16s under there. . . I removed them before I put the ARB bumper on there, never had a problem on or off road with strength with the bumpers and fenders, then again all my fenders are held on with a few 1/4 20 bolts and zip ties from home depot lol. The washer bottle was slightly exposed but never had a problem with the tire hitting it on the trails, now that i have the ARB its protected. |

Last weekend I had to go up mountains to rescue a friend on his chevy tahoe, he puncture a tire on a ski trip, and two studs on his wheel were not the same size, and two other where in trouble, it was snowing, late at night and the road was closed, he call me at 5 pm, as he now I'm mechanically inclined, so go to a Homedepot like store bought a few meters of chain, built a pair of tire chains, and started the trip. The chains were a little too big so the carnage from the trip was on one of the liners just where protect the pinch weld, now I have two options, change or take it out, so send you pictures please. P.S. the police on the way up told me: "you can't go up to the refuge, the road is closed", 30 min later I was knocking on the refuge doors |

All you need is a heat gun..you know like a blow dryer but then to strip paint. If you warm up the liner you can bend it into any shape you like... |

Well I cut them out today, followed the line of the fender on the inside with a razor knife, easy enough. The ammount of old dirt packed up in the body was unbelievable. There's no adverse afects to the fenders body panels ect. |

Sorry no pictures, I do evertything over my I phone. It was real simple, I just took a razor knife and follows along the inside edge of the fenders, popped out the clips attached to the body and removed the liners. Fenders and bumpers are still just as firmly attached as when the liners were in. |

My only concern is that there is no front bumper on my 2005 that attaches to my fender anymore. So I am worried that the liners are helping support the fenders since the bumper isn't. Without the liners I would think my fenders would just flop around and fall off. |

I removed my inner liners. My flares are bolted on because the mud around here rips them off otherwise. |

I chopped out the driver's side today. I'm not crazy about running no liner now that I have done it. I'll be replacing the plastic liner with some aluminum sheeting because there is a huge gap that is going to fill with debris and annoy me if I don't cover that gap up. If it wasn't for the gap, the removal would be great. I am going to add an 8" wide sheet and bolt it to the fenders and bolt the fenders to the body panels as well. Should be nice and sturdy after that. |
