Post subject:  Fuel Filter

How easy is it to change a fuel filter, and how much does one cost? Also does anyone have any tips for changing one like how to not leak gas everywhere. Thanks fellas.

the fuel filter unit was about 50 dollars if i recall correctly

you have two options for replacing it

1. dropping the tank

2. using a heat gun and knife/chisel to remove the tank access door which is under the carpeting

however, unless you're over 150k or having fuel delivery problems then you probably need to do neither

Never replace it unless the fuel pump is replaced.

I've called all my local dealers, within 30 miles, they don't have a fuel filter in their database, except for the one inside the tank. Where did you get yours?

Got mine both times from the dealership, part # 52100402AE.It sits right on top of the gas tank, they deleted it for '05+ KJ's.Last I've ssen it's a dealer only part and not cheap, expect to pay at least $120.

Have you tried this?

$54 + s/h

says it replaces p/n 52100402AE. It lists 02-03 3.7l sport

edit: it also says it an inline filter, so its probably the wrong part...hmmmm.....
