Does anyone use one of these for towing? Are they safe? And I heard they cut the amount you are able to tow in half?

Thinkin' about gettin' one

Any info will help

Thanks

Yes they reduce your receiver rating and they also make towing clunky because there are more parts moving around at every start, stop, and turn. I needed a longer hitch too in order to tow my boat and the tongue interfered with the spare tire. So I got the longest ball mount Reese makes (they do come in different lengths) in the drop I needed and I have just enough clearance to get the job done. I had to extend my wiring harness and get longer safety chains too.

Ive got the draw tite hitch and it makes a 9in receiver with a 2in drop work great. Just at the end of the spare. Ive got a 2in lift too so a regular libby wouldnt need the 2in drop and wouldnt look right with a boat down in the front. Makes towing it harder too.

Ill go along with the last post but I have a 2.5 daystar and run 265/75 so it sits pretty level to me if I take the spare tire off and use the 2 inch drop fasing up it will sit level . also you can turn the reciever sideways and drill a 5/8 hole and put a d ring in also

PS Rocky Road is 10.00 cheeper and the SAME one and it will let you open the window with large tires
