| Post subject: | On Board Air |
Has anyone converted the ac compressor into a on board air system? I was wondering what I would need for fittings and lines? |

Do you mean turning it into an air compressor? No but it sounds like a cool idea in theory if you off road often and don't care about not having A/C. If if could be done you would need to find a way to keep the compressor lubricated. the a/c compressor is made to be part of a sealed system and in with the refrigerant there is an oil to keep things working smoothly. If you used it to compress air to fill tires or run air syspension you are making it an open ended system so the some oil will leave with the air |

It has been done, I don't know of anyone with a Liberty that has done it, but lots of CJ's and TJ's have taken old AC systems and made air compressors out of them. You need an air compressor with separate oil from the coolant. See: http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/yorkair.html |
