i dont see why not. when i took off my pulley and clutch, and re-routed the belt, i also unplugged the plug on the ac unit, and its been fine since, nothing wierd. i unplugged it because the magnet that engages the clutch shorted out, so i just unplugged it so it wouldnt try to kick on when i flipped the switch past A/C or defrost

Thank you, I will unplug it. I'm going to leave it there. May try and use it as on board air.

If you ever go someplace nice (I mean nice and warm) you will regret it.

I never use my AC, even in 90+ degree weather. I always have my windows down. But if my GF's in the car she complaines about her hair being blown everywhere, and then I use AC but that's about the only time

Since I'm getting divorced for the second time, I'm getting a dog so I won't have a gf to worry about.

You should really keep your a/c. Even if you never use for heat, it's pretty critical to de-fog the windshield in storms. Also if you ever travel somewhere that it can be hot, humid, and raining at the same time you'll wish you had it. I avoid using the a/c a lot, but wouldn't strip any car of it entirely unless it was going to be a track-only weapon, weekend car, something like that.

x2. You can always turn the a/c off.

Not to mention it kills your resale value. Especially when your VIN says it's supposed to be there and it isn't. That alone will raise a lot of suspicion to a potential buyer, and the dealer - well forget it - you'll get steam-rolled on a trade-in. Better off replacing it.

No codes yet, I just disconnected it. Haven't removed it yet because of the Freon.

Your system should have the R134, no freon, stopped the true Freon R12 back in 90's.
