i dont see why not. when i took off my pulley and clutch, and re-routed the belt, i also unplugged the plug on the ac unit, and its been fine since, nothing wierd. i unplugged it because the magnet that engages the clutch shorted out, so i just unplugged it so it wouldnt try to kick on when i flipped the switch past A/C or defrost |

Thank you, I will unplug it. I'm going to leave it there. May try and use it as on board air. |

If you ever go someplace nice (I mean nice and warm) you will regret it. |

I never use my AC, even in 90+ degree weather. I always have my windows down. But if my GF's in the car she complaines about her hair being blown everywhere, and then I use AC but that's about the only time |

Since I'm getting divorced for the second time, I'm getting a dog so I won't have a gf to worry about. |

You should really keep your a/c. Even if you never use for heat, it's pretty critical to de-fog the windshield in storms. Also if you ever travel somewhere that it can be hot, humid, and raining at the same time you'll wish you had it. I avoid using the a/c a lot, but wouldn't strip any car of it entirely unless it was going to be a track-only weapon, weekend car, something like that. |

x2. You can always turn the a/c off. |

Not to mention it kills your resale value. Especially when your VIN says it's supposed to be there and it isn't. That alone will raise a lot of suspicion to a potential buyer, and the dealer - well forget it - you'll get steam-rolled on a trade-in. Better off replacing it. |

No codes yet, I just disconnected it. Haven't removed it yet because of the Freon. |

Your system should have the R134, no freon, stopped the true Freon R12 back in 90's. |
