| Post subject: | What to look for in a used KJ? |
There is a 2003 KJ for sale at a local dealer here. It has an ARB front bumper as well as at least a 3" lift. Mileage is right at 93k. Do you have any advice on particular areas to look at or things to watch out for? What price range do these usually go for? As with most dealers around here there is no price posted. |

check the cv's, the ball joints...i would say on 100k miles and an arb bumper with a lift, should be about 9,500 at most |

Check for type of lift,if it's a spacer lift plan on replacing with a coil lift real soon,check for all 4 skids.Also count the # of bolts on the trans pan,13 bolts and it's got the good trans(45RFE).Make sure all current recalls have been done and all maintenance has been done for the 90K service.Being modified(lift and bumper) actually severely decreases the value,I'd say about $5000-$6000 would be max for a '03 with close to a 100k and modified. |

make sure you look for leaks of any kind. Don't be foolish. don't take their word for it. Get some one to look at it and advise you. BE SMART |

Look for Rust underneath the rear window [i.e. flipper glass] where the body seams meet. Also - check the lower portion of the rear doors for rust. The body seam is a common trouble spot. The rear doors - not so much. |
