Ok.... Looking to flat tow a TJ with a 4" lift, behind a 4x4 KJ with a lift. What comes to mind? Will this work, or will the TJ want to "drive" the KJ? Thanks |

I flat towed a YJ with with 4" lift and 31's (Insurance reasons wont allow a bigger tire) with no problems. Make sure that the tranny and xfer cases are both in Neutral. |

Thanks Richard, I'm not concerned with the TJ. I know it will tow fine. It's the KJ, that I will be driving in that worries me. A trailer would give me tongue weigh, to help make the trailer follow, but a flat tow would not give me that weight. And the front tires on the TJ, being unlocked for cornering, conserns me about the TJ getting a mind of it's own, and the KJ not being able to control the whole thing because the gross weight of the KJ is not that far off from the TJ. What did you use to tow the YJ with? |

Just drive really slow in the turns and give ALOT of time to stop. Thats the problem with flat towing is the tj will not have brakes. The libbys brakes are good, but not that good. Dont let them heat and and just take it really easy. In the turns and on hills you will really know its back there. |

Good point. Didn't think about the brakes. Everything I've towed has always had trailer brakes. Again, good point. Thanks. |

use low gears on the hills drop it down to 2nd or 1st to save on the brakes. |

The YJ had a tow bar already mounted to the front end. Let me tell ya, driving down the road with a YJ floatin around the rear is not fun to do. In all honesty, put your KJ/TJ on a trailer and tow with the other. Much less friction (better gas) and a lot eayser to control IMO. |
